Here is a link to our current fund-raising project - the sale of insulated mugs with our High Country Chapter logo. We are offering these at $30 a piece or 2 for $50. Not only are they attractive and very functional but you would be helping the chapter with your donation. Thank you for considering this important donation to our chapter.

This is an image of our Challenge Coin and a picture of some of our local dignitaries who received our challenge coin for their role in helping us achieve our goal of creating the Watauga County Veterans Memorial. Challenge Coins may be purchased for $10 by contacting Ted Alley.

Over the previous 15 years, the High Country Chapter has helped coordinate activities among the various veterans-oriented groups for Memorial Day and Veterans Day. At each event we typically have 400-500 attendees in the Boone Mall. For the past two years and out of concern for Covid, we held the events in a much smaller venue, our Veterans Memorial in downtown Boone. Even with the smaller ceremonies, they were still quite moving experiences. Our Memorial Day ceremony from 2020 was recorded here: 2020 Memorial Day Ceremony. And, the Veterans Day ceremony (also in 2020) can be seen here: 2020 Veterans Day Ceremony.. Although we tried to hold our 2021 Veterans Day ceremony in the Boone Mall, needed to, once again use the Veterans Memorial. We were finally able to have our 2021 Memorial Day ceremony in the Boone Mall with nearly our former attendence. In the future, we plan to return to this format for Veterans Day and Memorial Day observations.
Leading up to the 2021 Veterans Day ceremony, one of our members, Lance Campbell LTC, USA (Ret), was interviewed on the local radio station (WATA). Please listen to his interview here.
